Week of the Ministry
October 18-25, 2009
"God's Hands - Our Hands"
“Remember your leaders, those who spoke the word
of God to you; consider the outcome of their way of
life, and imitate their faith.”
(Hebrews 13:7 NRSV)
Those who are called to ministry truly are Gods’ hands. They are our spiritual hands. They
are the vessel - the transporter of the Word - a very present help in times of trouble - a kindred
spirit - mentor and spiritual guide. They are also physical hands that greet us on Sunday - they break bread and pour wine - they are the hands that bless a marriage and comfort the shoulder of one who mourns - they are the hands that reach for the phone at 3:00 a.m. with a voice of calm for one in distress. As you celebrate the Week of the Ministry, we encourage your congregation to
consider the hands of ministry within your Church.
