ALERT - IRS Scam

We've received word that one of our participants received a telephone call purported to be from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) threatening a lawsuit if taxes due were not paid, requesting a call to a particular phone number. Given the tax issues caused by our vendor's duplicate filing for the 2014 tax year, there was concern about this aggressive action.

PHONE CALLS OF THIS NATURE ARE A SCAM, unrelated to our tax filings.

THE IRS DOES NOT INITIATE CONTACT WITH TAXPAYERS BY EMAIL TO REQUEST PERSONAL OR FINANCIAL INFORMATION. THE IRS DOES NOT CALL TAXPAYERS WITH THREATS OF LAWSUITS OR ARRESTS.
