Rev. Ruth Chavez Wallace Announces Retirement Plans
INDIANAPOLIS - The Reverend Ruth Chavez Wallace, Pension Fund’s Vice President for Development and Legacy Giving, has announced her retirement, effective Dec. 31, 2019. Rev. Wallace will continue to work a reduced schedule until that date as she cares for her health.
Rev. Wallace has faithfully served Pension Fund for close to 15 years, raising critical dollars for the many programs of Ministerial Relief and Assistance. In reflecting on her service, Rev. Dr. Todd A. Adams, President / CEO shared, “The millions of dollars Ruth has raised during her tenure have provided critical assistance for pastors supplementing their retirement, relief grants for those experiencing unforeseen hardships such as natural disasters, and financial education and support for new pastors through Pension Fund’s Excellence in Ministry program. The lives Ruth has blessed through her ministry are countless.”
Before joining the staff of Pension Fund, Rev. Wallace and her husband, Rev. Charlie Wallace, served in the mission field through Global Ministries, with their longest tenure being in Venezuela. Following their service in Haiti with CONASPEH, Pension Fund President Emeritus James P. Hamlett invited Rev. Wallace to join Pension Fund’s staff. “Ruth was called to help Pension Fund minister to its members, especially retirees, and grow an endowment to undergird services for those most in need. She has done both exceedingly well,” reflected Hamlett.
“By sharing this news early with the church, I will have the opportunity to visit with some cherished and beloved members with whom I have shared deeply over the years,” stated Wallace. “I look forward to seeing many of my beloved friends and colleagues at General Assembly this summer.”
Pension Fund will honor Rev. Wallace this fall in Little Rock, AR., where Charlie serves as the Senior Minister of First Christian Church, and again when the full staff gathers for its annual training in December.
