Student Gift Application Deadline (Feb. 28)

Pension Fund of the Christian Church begins 2014 by extending two great gift opportunities to support current seminarians.

The Student Gift Membership pays dues at no cost to seminarians. This is an excellent way for students to learn how to begin saving for retirement with no financial obligation. In addition to receiving $70 per month in contributions to a Pension Plan account, the students also receive death and disability benefits while participating in the program. In order to participate in the Student Gift Membership, a student must satisfy the following criteria:

  • be a current student at an accredited theological education institution seeking a Masters of Divinity degree or ministry equivalent;
  • have completed at least 18 credit/semester hours toward the Masters of Divinity degree or ministry equivalent;
  • be enrolled at the institution at least six credit/semester hours for the semester/term (special consideration will be given for certain degree requirements that require intensive/focused ministry related instruction, such as CPE);
  • be a Disciples of Christ student "under care" of a recognized region/ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ);
  • fully participate in the Ministry-Life Choices for Seminarians; and
  • complete a Pension Plan Enrollment Form.

The deadline for applying to the Student Gift Membership for the next application round is February 28, 2014.

The second program, the Student Health Care Premium Assistance Gift, pays health care premiums up to 75% of premiums up to $900 for full time students and up to 50% of premiums up to $600 for part time students. Students can apply for the Health Care Gift Plan starting in their first year of seminary and must demonstrate need for the premium assistance gift. Students may participate in the Health Care Gift Plan at any time. There is no deadline or requirement to participate in this gift program.

We hope that you will take advantage of these plans by participating or let someone know who is currently a seminary student. For more information, contact Aaron Smith, Director of Employer Services at asmith@pensionfund.org.
