Merillat Flowers Joins Pension Fund as Vice President of Administration
On May 13, 2024, Merillat Flowers will join Pension Fund of the Christian Church as the Vice President of Administration. Merillat comes to Pension Fund from TechPoint, where she most recently served as Senior Vice President of Engagement. TechPoint is part of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership and is responsible for the digital economy of the state of Indiana. Prior to her eight years at TechPoint, she worked for Teach for America in Nashville, TN, where her last role was Managing Director of Teacher Leadership Development.
In this newly created role reporting to the President and CEO, Flowers will serve as an internal project manager, oversee human resources, payroll, and office administration, in addition to serving as the organization’s health privacy officer and assisting the President with strategic initiatives. “This position is a bit of a unicorn when you look at the duties and roles. Merillat is definitely a unicorn in her skillset and work experience in addition to her commitment to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)” shared Todd A. Adams, President and CEO.
Flowers is a fifth-generation member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She is married to Rev. Dr. Trey Flowers, Senior Minister of Beargrass Christian Church in Louisville, KY, and the daughter of Rev. Dr. Nancy Claire Pittman, President of Phillips Theological Seminary, and the late Rev. Dr. Don A. Pittman. Merillat currently serves on the Board of Directors for Disciples Overseas Ministries / Global Ministries, Christian Theological Seminary, and the Christian Church Kentucky Region. She is a graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, earned her master’s degree at Lipscomb University, and is certified in nonprofit management leadership from Georgetown University. She resides in Louisville, KY and has two children, Bailey and Will.
