Staying the Course - A Message from Rev. Dr. Todd A. Adams

Dear Members,

As we move through these interesting times, I want to assure you Pension Fund of the Christian Church has a long-held, well-tested investment discipline that has carried our members through similar challenges, such as the Great Recession of 2008. The Great Recession was caused by economic factors, not environmental factors. As David Stone, who served as Chief Investment Officer during that time as well, has shared – this is nowhere near 2008-2009.

Amid the uncertainty of today, there are things we know: We know we are staying the course and maintaining our investment discipline – we remain well diversified. We know we are entering this period of uncertainty with a strong economy boasting high employment, wage growth, and a high level of consumer confidence.

We know that your account has not decreased in value. We are appropriately positioned to continue meeting our obligations to our members. We are paying monthly pensions and interest on all member accounts. While our staff continues to work decentralized, we are taking your calls, processing your withdrawals and deposits, and making every effort to provide a 5-Star Customer Experience.

What we don’t know (and can’t predict) is how long this period will last. We don’t know if we’ve found the floor to the market or if there is another drop coming. These are among the reasons that we must maintain our current, and proven, course. What You Can Do:

  1. Visit our website to learn more about our new, free Your Money Line service, especially if you have non-securities related questions and would like to talk with someone about your finances.
  2. Join Your Money Line CEO, Peter Dunn, for a special live webinar this Thursday, March 19th at 12 p.m. EST. Facing Fear: How to Manage Your Financial Reality Despite Market Unrest. Pete will help you understand what's happening with the economy, how it impacts you, and how to create a plan to stabilize your finances in these trying times. Registration is free! http://yourmoneyline.com/facingfear.

We will continue to communicate with you over the coming weeks. We have a member call scheduled for April 30th at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. EST. We’ll be reminding you of this call information as we get closer to the date.

Know as we walk through these days, we remain disciplined, well-managed, and grateful that you have chosen us.

I too share the sentiments of Gary Kidwell, President of the Christian Church Foundation, that “the next few weeks will be a test of not only our resolve, but of this country as a whole. Eventually, fear will subside, life will normalize, and sentiment will improve. With that, the economy will heal, and markets will rebound.”
Friends, we are here for you and we continue our work to ensure you have a Strong, Smart, and Secure Retirement.

Sincerely,

Rev. Dr. Todd A. Adams
