Article Recap: Little money, few benefits: Retiring ministers struggle
The Christian Chronicle recently published an article on the struggles for retiring ministers. The article paints a bleak picture of the retirement crisis many pastors face. While this is not new information for those of us serving in the field of retirement, it is nonetheless disheartening to know that our fellow ministers are struggling to make ends meet in their later years. The article focuses on Churches of Christ pastors, but the retirement crisis spreads well beyond just one denomination.
Pension Fund Area Directors, Rev. Matt Shears and Rev. Jonathan Beckham-Brink, are featured in the article as podcast guests on the Almost Essential podcast that focuses on improving retirement assets for Church of Christ pastors. Both the article and the podcast cover ways that pastors and churches in the Stone-Campbell (Restoration) Movement can begin to think about retirement and savings and improve their financial health.
Pension Fund has served all three streams of the Stone-Campbell (Restoration) Movement since its founding in 1895. Our mission – For the Support of Ministry – goes beyond denomination and is the driving factor in our desire to see that all Stone-Campbell (Restoration) Movement pastors have a strong, smart, and secure retirement for years to come. With employer-sponsored and individual retirement plans, high-yield savings accounts, financial coaching from our partners at Your Money Line, as well as Ministerial Relief grants and programs to help struggling pastors, we are here to walk beside you.
