Meet the Your Money Line Financial Guides: Steven Gay

My name is Steven Gay, and I am a Financial Guide at Your Money Line. I am an Accredited Financial Counselor with an undergraduate degree in Finance and a master's degree in accounting. My work background encompasses 30 years of various posts in corporate finance and as a Finance Officer in the Marine Corps. I leverage all this training and education to serve those contacting Your Money Line by helping them address their financial questions and challenges.

I am, first and foremost, a man of faith who has been happily married for 30 years to my wife Diana, with whom I have three grown children. My journey into financial counseling started in 2009 at a local church when I discovered a knack for helping people manage their personal budgets. I leveraged my education and work experience with budgets to help people with their finances directly. My motivation comes from a desire to assist others in achieving financial stability within their households. This allows me to actively live my faith by encouraging others to become stronger stewards of their blessings.

There are so many complexities with personal financial management today. Marketing efforts aim to bombard us with too many messages to “spend, spend, spend.” There is a verse from the Bible, Proverbs 22:7, that says, "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.” This verse resonates very loudly with me as I understand the weight of heavy financial burdens. I have been there. I also understand how to work through becoming debt-free and the great value of living without overwhelming debt. That journey took Diana and me three years. I use my own experiences to guide others toward financial freedom and a more balanced life.

What I enjoy most is helping people eliminate debt, save for their goals, and prepare for retirement. All these objectives begin with a well-structured budget. A budget is not just a financial tool; it is the foundation for building wealth and being a responsible steward of the resources granted by God. A good budget combines living below your means, achieving your 30-day goals (as Pete, our CEO, puts it), and financial well-being. Everyone can benefit from having a plan for their money,

In this approach to financial counseling, I combine my financial expertise with empathy and a compassionate understanding of people's unique situations. I don't just focus on the numbers; I seek to help individuals and families regain control over their lives and reduce financial stress. Careful financial stewardship and a foundation of faith can lead us forward on the path to a more fulfilling and prosperous life.

Your Money Line is dedicated to empowering individuals on their journey to financial well-being. I take great pride in my role as a Financial Guide, where I diligently listen to the unique needs of our clients and provide them with high-caliber information, tools, and educational courses to propel them toward their financial objectives. I recognize the significant impact of personal encouragement and advocacy. Serving as a dedicated advocate often acts as the catalyst, propelling individuals into action and enabling them to attain their financial goals. This dual approach, blending resources with personalized support, is at the heart of our commitment to fostering financial empowerment.

Steven and the other Financial Guides at Your Money Line are ready to help you improve your own financial wellness. Learn more and get started on our Your Money Line page.
