Pension Fund Board Meets; Approves 2026 Special Apportionment at 8%
Indianapolis - Pension Fund’s Board of Directors met virtually April 22 - 25, 2026. The multi-day meeting began with the Investment Committee receiving the annual valuation from the external actuaries. The board approved a Special Apportionment Credit (SAC) of 8% based on the Dec. 31, 2025, funding status and assets under management. The SAC will be applied to July 1 pension payments and credit balances for active and inactive members based on December 31, 2025, credit balances.
“Last year was another solid year for returns. Despite the recent volatility in the market, our portfolio continues to perform well, as we are not exposed to undue risk and remain well diversified,” shared David Stone, Chief Investment Officer.
Rev. Dr. Todd A. Adams, President and CEO, updated the board on the 2025-27 Strategic Plan. “Our team is moving into the analytics phase of the data project, where we have collated 142 data points going back as far as 50 years and projecting as far as 20 and 40 years forward,” shared Adams. The data project is helping Pension Fund make real-time, data-driven decisions regarding our future operating model, systems, and staffing design. Adams went on to share, “When we carry the responsibility for the financial well-being of over 14,000 people, we have to constantly examine our approach to the work to ensure that we are providing the maximum benefit possible to our members, while protecting against downside risk, and operating as efficiently as possible.”
In other work, the board met with Grant Thornton, external auditors, to receive the 2025 audited financials with an unmodified or “clean” opinion and with WTW, Pension Fund’s external actuaries, to receive the annual Pension Plan valuation.
