Meet the Your Money Line Financial Guides: Lisa Whitley

My name is Lisa Whitley, Senior Financial Guide at Your Money Line. I am an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC ®) and a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC ®). I completed my undergraduate studies in Marketing and my Master’s degrees in Finance and Economics. My career at Your Money Line began in 2019, where I became part of the team of financial experts who help participants achieve financial confidence and stability.

I came to Your Money Line – and being a personal finance professional – after a long career in international development. As a foreign service officer and Peace Corps volunteer for 20 years, I lived in five countries on three continents. Even as I have now returned stateside, my enthusiasm for travel and new adventure has not dissipated nor has my appreciation for the diversity of perspectives that exist in the world.

As trite as it sounds, my core money philosophy is that personal finance is, well, personal. As much as I love a good rule of thumb, every person’s financial situation is unique to them. Even the exact same financial circumstance is not experienced identically by two different households.

When I use the word “situation”, I do not mean it as another word for “problem.” We bring both strengths and weaknesses to our financial lives. As a Financial Guide, my task is to help participants create a solution that reflects all their available opportunities and assets—not just the ones that we count in dollars and cents.

I am also a habitual list maker! I firmly believe that there is no problem in any realm that cannot be solved by a good, bulleted To-Do list (perhaps with sub-bullets, as well). So it is not surprising that I bring that planning spirit to my conversations with participants. I want everyone I interact with to walk away with a solid plan of action to tackle whatever task is on their money plate!

If you have not yet begun a conversation with the Financial Guides at Your Money Line, I encourage you to do so. You can learn more about the services we offer on Pension Fund’s Your Money Line page.
